Native to the sunny Mediterranean area, monthly blooming yellow and orange flowers brighten the landscape. Because these beautiful flowers are in bloom throughout the calendar year, they were named Calendula. Aside from bringing beauty and color to our Garden, Calendula, also known as the pot marigold, is an extremely helpful plant.
What is Calendula Used For?
Calendula is an anti-inflammatory, useful in soothing dry itchy skin and helpful in healing cuts, abrasions, or itchy scalp. The anti-oxidants, beta-carotene and other carotenoids make your skin glow, and your insides happy. Calendula re-seeds easily, if left to its own devices you may find your garden full of this sunny plant.
Morrocco Method Seaweed Handmade Natural Soap is full of calendula to help tone your skin.
Next week, the final installment of DIY Care by Jerica will have a recipe for lavender-calendula lip balm!
