This past November I spent my Thanksgiving visiting the beautiful islands of Maui and Kauai. I always find it incredibly relaxing to escape the holiday craziness and retreat to a place of unrivaled natural beauty. Observing and appreciating nature can be difficult in other places, where there is so much to distract you in your daily life. In Hawaii, one is constantly being bombarded with natural wonders that you can’t help but marvel at.

I was also able to get together with some of my dear friends who live on the islands, and we had a blast! We enjoyed hikes through the bamboo forests, visiting the Haleakala Crater (if you are ever in Maui, you MUST see this), eating fresh fish and produce every day, going to local farmers’ markets, and simply soaking up the sun and relaxing in the warm waters of the west Pacific. This opportunity to leave my daily worries behind greatly helped me to reflect on how much I have to be thankful for: very appropriate for the Thanksgiving holiday! It was just what I needed to prepare for this busy and often demanding time of year, and helped bring new perspective and awareness to my life and life decisions!
